Scorpion Unveil Exhaust For Renault Megane R.S. 280

With a big following in the Renault tuning industry, many enthusiasts were super excited to see us start development on the latest Renault Megane R.S. 280.

From the factory, the Megane R.S. 280 looks subtle enough to blend in with other vehicles on the road, it doesn’t have as many stand out features like its rivals such as the Mk3 Focus RS or FK8 Civic Type R. But when we got behind the wheel of the development car, we were delighted to find out it holds many of the same attributes as its predecessors.

The 1.8-litre turbocharged engine is refined. It puts out 276 bhp with 288 ft lb of torque which is just enough when paired with the 4 wheel steering and torque vectoring system.

No time was wasted getting the R.S. 280 into development. First off, we developed a high-flow cat-back exhaust system which is constructed from 76mm / 3” T304 stainless steel for better flow rates and high durability. Keeping an open-minded manner, we designed two different centre sections allowing the buyer to tailor the system to their own preferences. Buyers can choose from resonated or non-resonated centre sections. Resonated offers the driver a more subtle soundtrack enhancement, perfect for drivers using the R.S. day to day. Non-resonated offers more of an aggressive note, for the enthusiastic driver. You can expect more pops, gurgles and bangs on over run and gear changes when in sport mode.

Like many Renault’s, the exhaust is totally invisible, as it fits into the Megane’s OE centre exit tailpipe. But rest assured, the system is manufactured to super high standards using the latest manufacturing techniques available. High quality material, mandrel bent pipework and laser measurement systems go hand in hand with the knowledge and expertise of our research and development team.

It doesn’t stop there. As well as the cat-back system, we also developed a high flow de-cat turbo downpipe. Constructed from the same 76mm / 3” T304 stainless steel pipework, the turbo downpipe dramatically enhances the flow of the vehicle by removing the restrictive OE catalyst. And again, keeping things open-minded we developed the downpipe to fit with either the Scorpion or OE cat-back exhaust. (remap recommended)
