Stafford First Class
In round five of the British Supermoto championship held at a sunny Blyton North Lincolnshire last weekend Ben Stafford once again proved he is not giving up his 250cc title from 2010 easily. After a dramatic off in qualifying Ben remounted and placed his D3 Racing KTM 250 on pole position despite the bike being a little out of shape.
Ben dominated the first race of the day at the newly re furbished track with a comfortable gap between him and the 2nd place rider, The second race proved to be slightly more challenging whilst following the leader into the dirt section and trying to make an inside pass wheels touched and Stafford came off worst but after quickly re mounting and chasing the pack he managed a third position over the line.
The third and last race of the day a similar pattern to race 1 and with several competitors struggling to get to grips with a newly wetted off road section of the track Ben pushed hard and finished a very comfortable 1st and taking the overall podium for the day.
Sunday’s meeting again alongside the Elite riders proved more difficult, but Ben again rose to the occasion and pushed the D3 Racing 250cc machine to the limits and qualified in a creditable 13th position proving his ability on circuits is only vanquished by the sheer horsepower of the larger machines.Ben as ever pulled out a commendable display and brought the D3 machine to a fine 12th 18th and finishing an overall 17th on the day.
Round 6 moves back to the last visit of the year to the Three sister’s track at Wigan in three weeks time.
