Team Haribo Finish 4th & 5th
Johnny & Alex finish 4th & 5th for Team HARIBO Starmix at BSB Silverstone Arena GP.
Race : As the start lights went out, both riders struggled to get free of the first lap melee. The first three has already got free, Johnny was then next to emerge from the pack and he set about chasing down the leading three who had shot off at the beginning. Alex soon emerged at the head of the following group and the pair of them eventually treated us to a formation display as they set off in chase of the leading three. Alex eventually passed Johnny, but Johnny’s a hard man to pass: he clawed his 4th place back again. Together the pair of them managed to close down the gap on the 3rd-place rider, but the race proved just too short - as it finished with Johnny still 4th and Alex 5th. The pair of them were just two seconds off the podium, and nine seconds clear of the 6th place rider behind Alex.
Their brilliant display of safe yet fast riding, crowned another successful weekend for Team HARIBO Starmix.
It had stayed dry all weekend; but it was now quite windy, and some threatening clouds were scudding across. Alex didn’t get a bad start and quickly settled into the race. He set a good pace and the bike was going well. After a few laps Alex eventually found his self behind team mate Johnny who was running 4th. Johnny rode a good race - he really didn’t give me much of a chance to get past him. Olsen did manage it once, but promptly lost the place to Johnny. In the end Alex finished 5th with Johnny still in front. Another great result for our team.
Team Haribo Rider Johnny Blackshaw got one of his worst starts of the season. The new clutch fitted, hadnt been bedded in enough during pre race warm up and was behaving like a switch – "It wasn’t delivering a normal gradual engagement; it was just either ON or OFF!" said Johnny after the race. After a disastrous start Blackshaw got his head down and worked up from 9th to 4th. But a bike was closing up behind. A slight error coming onto the Wellington Straight enabled Alex to pass the number 24 rider. Quickly Johnny made a fast but safe pass back on Alex - into one of the quickest corners on this circuit - and then defended his lines for the last two laps of the race.
