T3 Racing - Donington

Luke Jones Crowned T3 Champion

Donnington T3 Racing

The weekend of September of 9-11 saw the arrival of T3 racing to Donnington Park for Round 8 of the Triumph Triple Challenge. As with all the other rounds of the Triple Challenge this was on the same billing as the BSB so it saw both Simpson and Dye on track with their T3 racing 675's in Supersport and Superstock respectively.

In the Triumph Triple Challenge, the KGD Racing Triumph ridden by Luke Jones took the first race win and ultimately the Championship. Jones was only needing 1 point to secure the title and for Peter Ward to finish anywhere but first. Luke started from 3rd place on the grid, but by Redgate corner had moved into 1st where he stayed for the remainder.

The second Triumph Triple Challenge was a little more dramatic however the result was the same, another win for the Hereford based rider. Ashley Beech wasnt as fortunate though, a huge off at Craner Curves left his AB Racing bike in 2 pieces. Beech was lucky enough to stay in 1 piece and was able to walk away from the accident. Rain later on also bought about a restart.

Round 10 of the British Supersport Cup was also contested on the same day, 2 second place finishes for Antrim based John Simpson allowed him to strengthen his grip on the title. The 2nd race of the day was action packed with 2 red flags, 1 due to rain and 1 due to a fluid spillage.

Donington proved a difficult race for Superstock 600 rider Jimmy Dye, his T3 Racing Triumph started back in 20th place, although in just 2 short laps he had pushed his way up to 16th. Unfortunately his streak was cut short on lap 7 when a competitor wiped him out and ended his race. Race 2 saw Dye start from 28th place but managed to work himself up to 17th until he almost high sided the bike. This dropped him down to 20th where he finally finished the race.
