Scorpions can play netball!!

IN a tale of two halves, Ripley Scorpions Ladies netball team got the New Year off to a winning start, albeit inconclusive, last Wednesday.
Scorpions overcame a disjointed first half display in which they found themselves half a dozen goals adrift at one stage to finally douse local derby rivals Ripley Flames with a 26-22 victory after leading 10-9 at the interval.
The half time lead was however, only achieved by a purple patch in the five minutes just before half time as Scorpions struggled to shake off their festive excesses.
In the second half Scorpions improved sufficiently to never lose their lead despite three corking goals from the Flames goalshooter from the edge of the circle which just about kept her side in contention in the Friesland league encounter.
Scorpions players of the match were Lynda Aubin (GA) and Julie Ellis (C).
Bandits provided the opposition on Wednesday of this week before Scorpions face Follies for the first time this season next week (Jan 17, 7.15pm).
