Ripley Scorpions Ladies Netball team again had Julie Ellis unavailble for last Wednesday’s game against Follies but they couldn’t use that as an excuse for an abysmal performance which yielded a 29-13 Friesland League defeat.
Despite Nina Rawson returning, Scorpions were facing an uphill struggle when they went into the half time break 14-5 down in a first clash of the season against their opponents.
Ripley played slightly better in the second half but found themselves unable to utilise what possession they had in the latter third of the pitch with few scoring opportunities created whilst Follies made the most of theirs.
It was a third league defeat of the campaign for Scorpions and one which means their title hopes are now just plain folly.
Players of the match were Natasha Law (GD) and Isobel Leonard (GK).
Scorpions were scheduled to face Thornbirds on Wednesday night of this week and they are in local derby action next week (Jan 31) when they take on Ripley Sparks (6.30pm).
