Scorpion Sponsored Rider Becomes British Champion John Mitchell takes number 1 spot in British Quad Championship
Even though he only needed 10 points, from an available 50, John was taking no chances, this weekend was all about winning the championship. The venue was Waggadon Farm in deepest Devonshire. Heavy rain ensured that the circuit resembled a mud bath, althought the sun did creep out sunday morning.
John was taking it steady in qualification knowing that he only needed to finish 12th in the first race to become champion.
Race one in the afternoon began with a tangle in the first corner between around 8 riders. Taking no chances John rode a steady race keeping out of trouble and finished the race in 7th place, more than enough to secure the championship.
After the race John was mobbed by well wishers. This along with some great sportsmanship from fellow riders. Paul Winrow handed John a number 1 plate inscribed with "only on loan".
The second race was an interesting affair, very slick and single file. During this race John suffered his only puncture of the season, but still managed to finish 4th!!!!!
